Classical Pilates follows the original method and sequences of exercises created by Joseph Pilates – originally called Contrology – it provides an invigorating full body workout.

Movements flow, precisely with control. Concentration and breath centre and still the mind.  Transitional exercises allow one movement to evolve into another without interruption creating a dynamic flow.

Joseph Pilates

Joseph Pilates was born in 1880 in Germany. He was a sickly child who suffered from asthma, rickets and rheumatic fever but with self-determination and an early understanding of his own body he overcame his health issues. Embarking on a journey of a lifetime this eventually lead to the creation of Contrology.

Mr. Pilates lived healthfully to the age of 86 passing away in NYC in 1966. Sadly, he never fully realized his dream of bringing Pilates to the world while living but he correctly stated “my method is 50 years ahead of it’s time”. Today Pilates is performed worldwide and the method is recognized by the public and health professionals as a path to wellness.
